TRAVEL: AMERICAN SOUTHWEST ROAD TRIP MAY 2024

THINGS I LEARNED

Throughout this trip, I learned a lot about travelling, the states I went to, photography, and even some history. Passing along my notes and thoughts in this page

Probably the most like my archived blogs in tone and intention.

The common type of rest area with public restrooms and just a few maps or vending machines are extremely important, and we all probably take them for granted.

When you go to a national park, try to go between sunrise and 11am to beat the crowds. It's easy to forget these places are internationally famous - in Zion, I heard more French, German, Swedish, and other languages than I ever have. It's gonna get packed, fast.

Alternatively, something around 95% of national parks visitors don't go beyond ~0.5 miles or so from the main road or most popular trails, so if you're willing to hike you can find some solitude.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) operates an eigth of the U.S. total landmass, 85% of Nevada!

In Utah, their alcohol laws are much more restrictive. You can only get singles of liqour and low-volume coctails, and their beer is typically 3.2%

Arches National Park requires a reservation - and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more parks follow their lead in the future.

Early May is "Mud Season" in the Rockies, and while that means there's less to do, there's also less people.
